"HitSim Analyser" external
PC program for detailed studies:
HitSim
Analyser as an integral part of the TROJAN Shooting Simulator represents
the ultimate tool for replay and close-up studies of individual performance
on the system. Each completed shot series is instantly linked from the
simulator to the external PC by Ethernet LAN, enabling the shooter to retrieve
the data and continue the process of learning by repeatedly viewing his
own or others performance.
Key features of the HitSim
Analyser are numerical, graphical or animated presentations of shooting
results combined with the possibility to simulate the effects of «what
if» changes of relevant gun, ammunition and target movement parameters.
HitSim Analyser is a true
myth-killer through it’s capability to unveil and display hidden consequences
of the way you and others shoot. The advanced mathematical model of the
HitSim Analyser is similar to that of the TROJAN Shooting Simulator. Standard
Windows Man-Machine-Interface makes it easy to learn and use.
A
capital feature of any simulator shot is the possibility of recalculating
the effects on the target by changing any of the parameters from the actual
exercise. By so doing you will quickly learn ways to improve your personal
performance, and more so, be aware of your personal limitations. When you
know who you are and what you do, you may reflect this into your choice
of gun and ammunition parameters, or concentrate on optimising on time
and deviation in order to improve your shooting performance.
HitSim Analyser as a stand-alone
programme may be installed on an IBM compatible PC with Windows 9X. Shooting
result files from the TROJAN Shooting Simulator may be transferred by diskettes
or Internet. But you may also use the programme independently to view in
detail pre-recorded Expert Shooting Performance or simulate the effects
of various ammunition and gun characteristics.
HitSim
Analyser is therefor the ideal reference for learning, and one to gain
valuable experience from in your own attempt to become a master of the
trade. By studying the effects of various mounting techniques you will
see the difference and imagine the suitability for your own practising.
What works for one individual may be totally unsuitable for another, especially
so where the volume of training is significantly different. For this reason,
many highly recommended expert techniques should be avoided, simply because
your level of practising may be far to low in order to get a firm grip
of that technique.
The average hunter with
a relatively low volume of training may find that simple old fashion ways
of gun handling are far more productive than modern methods developed by
high ranking experts and competition shooters.
You will undoubtedly be surprised
to find that some of the myths you have been told are simple not true.
Quick reaction and aggressive shooting is often shown to be counterproductive,
and many an expert have had to admit to modification of his technique.
The change to a different choke may also prove useful. Timing, pattern
and off centre hits are closely related parameters which can only be fully
understood when you are given the opportunity to see for your self.
HitSim
Animation features replay of recorded (stored) shot series, shot by shot
as they were performed in the simulator. You will see the animated target
fly away on the screen just as it did in the actual exercise, and you will
see the trailing gun movement as you mount and track, trying to catch up
and overtake.
A slow motion run of the
event will uncover any hidden detail in your attempt to succeed, and will
show why that particular shot was a good or a bad one.
When compared with the relative
trace from the simulator console, shown in the right hand lower corner
of the screen, you will be able to fully understand the importance of all
aspects of your gun swing. You are now ready to start figuring out what
it takes to make improvements happen. And in so doing, run the animation
sequence again and again, at different speeds while picturing yourself
out there pointing your gun into the air:
-
Why did I find it so hard to
follow the flight track of the target? Could it be that I forgot all about
where to start the swing? Or, was I carried away by the sound of buzzing
wings?
-
Why did I hesitate when reaching
the target, flying along with it rather than proceeding to an anticipated
forward lead? Could it be that «target fixation» is a psychological
barrier that needs to be overcome? Or, did my brain go into a «lead
calculation process» which stalled all other action?
-
Why did my swing vary so much
in terms of relative speed and decisiveness? Could it be that the target
controlled the swing, rather than I? Or, was it simply my own lack of awareness
of basic gun swing techniques?
-
Why are my shots varying all
over the place, or why am I always behind, over, under or unlikely as it
may be, in front? Could it be improper gun tailoring? Or, inadequate or
incorrect gun mounting, or do I have an opposite eyesight dominance?
-
Why do I stop prior to or when
pulling the trigger? Could it be a «recoil expectation» habit,
a defensive psychological action? Or, simply a lack of awareness of the
importance of participating throughout the shot?
-
Why do I have a firm and forced
downward gun movement at the time of triggering? That is definitely a «recoil
expectation» habit, as you cling to your gun to meet the kick.
The merits above are merely
selected examples from the wide range of factual circumstances which may
be displayed and documented beyond doubt. When seen in context, you will
realise without tedious lecturing, and hence gain experience that would
otherwise have taken long to achieve with only traditional practising.
Still, real practising is
as important as ever, but simulator training will make you understand by
seeing, rather than just trying to understand what someone else wants you
to. Seeing is believing.
